My Website is Down

Learn what to do if your site isn't loading properly

There are a lot of reasons why a site could go down and several of them could have nothing to do with a problem with the DoorGrow servers.

This information below will help you take the first steps to figure out the cause & who to call.

First, check if it is just down for everyone or just you...

Go here and enter your website address: http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

Hopefully it is just you!

What to Do If It Is You?

If it is just you try connecting to it through a different internet connection such as your phone cellular (disable wifi). This could mean your internet provider is having issues. Try restarting all your internet devices. If that doesn't work try calling them for support. If the hold times are long there may be an outage.

It also could mean your location's IP address was blocked from the server due to some sort of activity from your device that seemed suspicious. Often restarting your internet will assign it a new IP address.

Check your IP Address:

To see your current IP address just Google What is my IP Address:
https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+my+ip+address&oq=what+is+my+ip+address

Is A Different Site Being Displayed?

Take note when you navigate to the site if a website is displayed or there is an error. If something is displayed (such as a GoDaddy page) then your site won't be reported as down because another site is being displayed instead.

If you see something unexpected like this it means you have a DNS or Domain Name Service issue. Your name may have expired.

Do a WHOIS Lookup

A WHOIS Lookup will tell you if your domain name is expired or active. It will also tell you where the domain is pointed.

You can check your WHOIS record here.

Make sure the "Status" isn't set as "Expired" or even worse "Recovery". If that is the issue you may have ignored your domain renewal emails. Your site and email will be down at that domain.

Do a DNS Lookup

Check your domain to see what IP address it is pointed to. It may have been re-pointed to the wrong address (one different from our server).
You can perform a DNS Lookup here: https://mxtoolbox.com/DNSLookup.aspx

In the example above the client's IP was accidentally changed to point to GoDaddy. Have us check the IP address to see if it matches the one on our server... if not, your site won't be reachable.

Check Your Email for Notices for Missed Payments

You may have missed some billing emails or invoices regarding payment from us or your domain name registrar. Often just paying will get things restored in short order.
